Vodafone operates adaptive in time of war

Vodafone Ukraine reports on its activity in February and March, in conditions of wartime.

Since February, 24 Vodafone, being a part of critical infrastructure in the country, did not stop its operations for a single minutes. Hoping that the worst-case scenario of a full-scale Russian invasion would not come true the company took preemptive measures to ensure its operations in an emergency.

The company developed a plan of rapid response to possible incidents and problems that might emerge. We increased network capacity and carried out network shock tests to check its reliability under extreme loads. Additional traffic transport channels were organized to be able to direct traffic via alternative channels including channels of our partner companies in Europe. We arranged some additional supplies of network equipment and spare parts sufficient for rapid critical repair works required.

During March, our infrastructure was severely damaged in the regions hit by the war. Relocation of people from the east to the west has also changed the network utilization geography.

However thanks to thorough planning, ready quick response plan, network backups and available equipment, including mobile units and diesel generators, the company's engineers were able to quickly restore the network and increase capacity where possible.

Well coordinated cooperation with vendors, partners, Vodafone Global, the government and other operators also helped to maintain a stable operation of the company.

From the very start of war we have provided services to our customers and launched a massive customers support program to help people and businesses to survive the most critical time and stay in touch even at low or zero balance both in Ukraine and in roaming in 27 countries.

Together with two other operators in the market we have launched national roaming in the country to ensure subscribers access to available networks.

Vodafone supports Ukraine and Ukr ainians from the first days of the war. The company provides direct financial assistance to those in need through charitable foundations and transfers bonuses provided to customers on their behalf to help those in need. Vodafone provides free SIM-cards, smartphones, various gadgets for the needs of volunteers/doctors. The company restores the network, repairing damaged infrastructure and equipment; installs equipment and provides free Internet to the bomb shelters.

Despite the significant negative effect of war on our business, which is being assessed, Vodafone UA continues its operations, maintenance of the network and provision of services to subscribers. The company will continue to do everything in its power to fulfill its commitments to clients, partners and investors during these difficult times for Ukraine.
