Young patients receive backup heating thanks to Vodafone

12 December 2025Country support

As part of the charitable challenge “League of Warmth,” the installation of environmentally friendly heat pumps has been completed at the Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital. The new systems will maintain a comfortable indoor climate even during unstable power supply caused by the war. The implementation of this stage of the “League of Warmth” project became possible thanks to the financial support of Vodafone Ukraine.

The Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital was chosen deliberately — parents bring their children here from 69 territorial communities of the Kyiv region, and overall the hospital provides care to more than 300,000 patients.

“The need to install modern split systems was extremely important for our facility,” says Kateryna Savinova, CEO of the hospital. “We treat various categories of children: premature infants, babies with critically low birth weight, congenital developmental disorders, and heart conditions. For such children, stable temperature and a proper microclimate in hospital wards are vital. Split systems allow us to create the necessary conditions that ensure comfort and safety for our patients. We are grateful to our partners for their support — thanks to you, every child receives warmth, both literally and figuratively.”

The modern, energy-efficient equipment will heat three departments:

  • the Neonatal Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit;
  • the Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit;
  • the Post-Intensive Care, Nursing, and Neonatal Pathology Department (Neonatology).

“In the fourth year of the war, Ukrainian businesses are going through extremely challenging times. Nevertheless, we stay connected, take care of our employees, and help wherever possible,” says Olha Ustinova, CEO of Vodafone Ukraine. “The League of Warmth is one of those projects that allows us to look to the future with confidence. It is about our youngest Ukrainians, modern technologies, and renewable energy. I never tire of calling on Ukrainian businesses and company leaders to join our League. Together, we can provide reliable heating to more maternity hospitals and protect their smallest patients — newborns — from cold and blackouts.”

The installation of heat pumps at the Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital marks the fourth stage of the League of Warmth project, implemented in partnership with the charitable foundation “Your Support.” Similar equipment already provides heating for young patients at the Okhtyrka Central District Hospital, the maternity hospital in Boyarka, and the maternity and intensive care units of the Regional Family Health Medical Center in Dnipro.

Valeriia Tatarchuk, Founder and CEO of the Your Support Charitable Foundation, comments:
“Providing warmth for newborn and premature babies is not just about comfort — it is about sustaining life. In wards where infants are treated, it simply cannot be cold. Thanks to our partnership with Vodafone Ukraine, we were able to preserve warmth where it is needed most right now. We are grateful for the support and the opportunity to implement this vital project — a project that saves lives.”

The League of Warmth is already searching for the next maternity hospital in need of additional heating. You can join this important initiative and learn more about the project via the link.
